Based on data from thousands of L-Plate users, the sweet spot is 2–3 weeks of daily practice, spending about 20–30 minutes per day.
The Data
L-Plate users who pass first time typically:
- Study for 14–21 days
- Complete 400–800 practice questions
- Take 3–5 mock tests
- Spend 20–30 minutes per session
Less Than 2 Weeks: Risky
Can you cram for the theory test in a few days? Some people try. The data shows their pass rate is significantly lower. Your brain needs time to consolidate information — spreading study over 2+ weeks works far better than cramming.
More Than 3 Weeks: Diminishing Returns
If you’re still not confident after 3 weeks, the issue is usually how you’re studying, not how long. Make sure you’re:
- Actively answering questions (not just reading)
- Reviewing wrong answers and understanding why
- Covering all 8 categories, not just your favourites
- Taking timed mock tests to practise under exam conditions
The Ideal Study Schedule
- Week 1: Category practice — 20 minutes/day, all 8 categories
- Week 2: Weak spots + first mock test
- Week 3: 2–3 more mock tests, final review
