Arriving at the theory test centre without the right documents means you won’t be allowed to sit the test — and you’ll lose your €45 fee. Here’s exactly what to bring.
Essential Documents
- Photo ID — one of the following:
- Current passport
- Current Irish driving licence or learner permit
- National ID card (EU/EEA)
- Booking confirmation — the email or reference number from when you booked
What You Don’t Need
- No pens or paper (it’s computer-based)
- No calculators
- No phones (you’ll be asked to leave it in a locker)
- No study materials (lockers provided)
What Happens If You Forget Your ID?
You will not be allowed to sit the test and your fee is non-refundable. This is the most expensive mistake you can make on test day. Check your ID the night before.
Arrival Tips
- Arrive 15 minutes early
- Allow extra time for parking and finding the centre
- You’ll go through a brief check-in process before being seated
Make sure you’re prepared for the test itself too — take a final mock test the day before to confirm you’re ready.
