Dublin has four official Driver Theory Test centres: Blanchardstown, Santry, Dublin City (IFSC) and Dublin South (Dun Laoghaire). You choose a centre and see its appointment times when you book on theorytest.ie, and the car test costs €45. The test is the same format at each one: 40 questions, 45 minutes, 35 correct to pass.
Dublin Theory Test Centre Addresses
These addresses are from the official centre list, read on 30 September 2026:

Dublin City 2026 update: the Dublin City centre moved to the Custom House Plaza address on 26 May 2026. If you sat a test in the city centre before then, do not go to the old address. Always check the address on your booking confirmation before you travel.

How to Book a Theory Test in Dublin
- Go to theorytest.ie, the official booking service.
- Choose your category. The car test is BW; the motorcycle and moped test is AM.
- Select a Dublin centre and look at its appointment times. Then check a second centre, because appointment times differ between centres.
- Pay the fee. Accepted methods are Mastercard, Visa credit and debit card, Revolut card, and cheque or postal order.
You can reschedule free of charge if your request is received at least 7 calendar days before the test. Inside 6 calendar days, a fee of 50% of the original exam fee applies. Full steps are in our booking guide.
On the Day
- Arrive 30 minutes before your test time. That is the official advice, and it allows for check-in.
- Bring the required ID. It is scanned at check-in. No ID, or arriving late, means no test and no refund.
- Expect security checks for phones and Bluetooth devices. Smart glasses are not allowed in the testing room.
- Leave yourself time for traffic and parking. Dun Laoghaire and Santry are in shopping centres and Dublin City is in the IFSC.

How to Prepare
Listen to me. The centre you pick will not pass the test for you. Five mistakes is all you are allowed, and the questions are picked at random from the question bank.
- Start with the free 10-question test. No account needed.
- Work through every topic. Do not skip the ones that bore you.
- Sit at least three timed 40-question mock tests and review every mistake.
- Book when you are scoring 35 or more each time. A practice score is evidence of preparation, not a promise.
