Locations below come from the official theory-test list read on 30 September 2026. They are county options, not a claim about the nearest venue or available appointments. Confirm your chosen address in the current official booking service before travelling.

Use this shared national plan at your own pace. The weeks and practice targets are suggested milestones, not a proven timetable or a prediction of passing. The same complete plan is available in our national preparation guide.
The official car and bike Driver Theory Test has 40 questions, 45 minutes and a pass mark of 35 correct answers. Read the official FAQs and book through TheoryTest.ie. L-Plate is an independent study service, not the official booking provider or a supplier of the official question bank.
Start with a free ten-question mixed quiz. Its score is a starting point: write down what you misunderstood and use that list to choose your next study session. A ten-question quiz is not a full mock or a prediction of passing.
Use the official revision material and the RSA Rules of the Road alongside practice. L-Plate organises study into road signs, rules of the road, hazard awareness, documents, vehicle knowledge, alcohol and drugs, motorway rules and vulnerable road users. These are our study groupings, not a promise about how many questions an examiner will select from each topic.
Work through the focused question guides, including parking, speed limits, roundabouts, crossings, cyclists and penalty points. Give documents and vehicle checks the same careful attention as signs. Do not assume that a topic which feels familiar needs no revision.
This three-week plan is a suggested structure. Spend longer on a stage when you need it; a calendar does not prove readiness.
A useful example is a flashing amber signal: at a pelican crossing, pedestrians still crossing have priority; a flashing amber arrow also requires giving way to conflicting traffic and pedestrians. “Proceed with caution” on its own leaves out the yielding duty.
Take timed 40-question mocks across the topics, then review the wrong answers before taking another. Compare your scores with the published 35/40 pass mark, but also ask whether you understood unfamiliar questions. Repeated practice results do not guarantee the official result.
If scores vary widely or one topic keeps causing mistakes, return to that topic rather than rushing to another mock. There is no fixed number of days, practice attempts or hours that makes everybody ready. The three-week plan can be shortened or extended around what you actually understand.
If you do not pass, use the result feedback to choose what to revise and check the provider’s current rebooking conditions. L-Plate does not book appointments or guarantee dates.
These are our study groupings. They are not the official licence categories or a fixed allocation of exam questions.
Start with a ten-question sample without an account. The free web plan provides 10 practice questions, 1 timed mock and up to 3 AI explanations per day. Feedback availability depends on the question and flow. Paid plans and access limits.
For the official car and bike test, 35 out of 40. The time allowance is 45 minutes.
It is a suggested structure, not a guarantee. Your familiarity with the topics, understanding of wrong answers and performance on varied full mocks should guide how long you study.
The official car and bike theory-test format and pass mark are national. Your choice of centre changes where you attend, not the syllabus or pass mark.
No. L-Plate provides independent practice. Use official revision material and the RSA Rules of the Road as primary sources alongside it.
The official provider asks candidates to arrive 30 minutes before the appointment for check-in. Confirm the address on your booking and bring accepted identification.
The provider strongly advises allowing at least three complete business days before another sitting so you can revise. This is revision advice, not a rule that you must wait three days before submitting a booking. Check current appointments and fees with the official service.
Premium users who complete at least three full L-Plate mocks before their real theory test and then do not pass can receive a 30-day Premium extension under the terms. It is not a refund or a guarantee of an exam result.
Read the Retake Cover eligibility and product terms. Appointment alerts are separate from study access: Queue Jumper monitors selected theory-test centres, does not reserve a slot and does not monitor practical driving tests.
